Maple Gingerbread

Updated: Apr 6, 2021

Gingerbread is amazing. It is zesty, sweet and makes the house smell amazing when you are baking. This particular recipe uses pure Brantview Farms Maple syrup and sugar. It offers a slight natural sweetness to the strong, zesty ginger. It is a neat variation to a classic dessert.

Ingredients:

1 cup sour cream

1 egg

1 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp salt 2 1/3 cup sifted flour

1 1/2 tsp ginger

4 T melted butter

Crumb Topping:

1/3 cup flour

2 T melted butter

A large fluffy, crumbly brown cake sits with a dollop of white whipped topping and a glass of white milk.

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Blend maple syrup, sour cream and egg. Sift dry ingredients together and then stir into syrup mixture. Add butter last and beat thoroughly. Pour mixture into an 8x8 or 9x9 greased pan. Mix crumb topping mixture together and sprinkle on top of batter in pan. Bake for 30 minutes or until toothpick can be inserted and removed clean. Best served with whipped cream!

A fork sits in front of a piece of brown crumbly cake, with a piece cut and ready to eat. The cake is topped with white whipped topping and a glass of white milk sits behind the plate of cake.
