Nut Caramel Bars

Updated: Apr 29, 2021

These Nut Caramel Bars are rich and full of flavor. The crust is easy to make (crushed vanilla wafers and pure maple sugar) and the caramel is decadent, made with pure Brantview Farms Maple syrup. Topped with nuts, this dessert is any sweet-tooth lovers dream.

Ingredients:

1 package (12 oz) vanilla wafers, crushed

3/4 cup butter, melted

1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk

1 egg

1 cup butterscotch chips

1 1/2 cups coarsely chopped nuts (pecans, walnuts or both)

Two nut covered cookie squares sit stacked on a white plate.
Nut Caramel Bars are rich and sweet!

Directions:

In a small bowl, combine the wafer crumbs, maple sugar and butter. Press into a greased 9x13 baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned and set. Cool for 10 minutes.

In another bowl, beat condensed milk, egg, and maple syrup. Stir in the butterscotch chips. Spread mixture over cooled crust. Last, sprinkle top with chopped nuts. Bake for 18-22 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on rack and cut into bars. Makes 3 dozen bars.
