Sweet Potato Biscuits

Soft, sweet and dense, these biscuits make a dinner table complete. Perfect to serve with roasts, chicken and more these Sweet Potato Biscuits offer just a slight sweet flair with the spices and pure Brantview Farms Maple sugar used. If you are ready to swap out boring, traditional dinner rolls you have to try this recipe!

 

Ingredients:

5 cups flour

2 T baking soda

1 1/2 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp salt

1 tsp ground ginger

1/2 tsp ground allspice

1 cup vegetable shortening

2 cups mashed and cooled sweet potatoes

1 cup heavy cream

1/2 cup coursely chopped pecans (optional)

Directions:

Heat oven to 350 degrees

Stir together, flour, maple sugar, salt, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice.

Cut in shortening until mix is crumbly.

Mix in sweet potatoes.

Add cream and nuts last, mix until all is moistened.

Turn dough on floured surface, roll until dough is 1" to 1 1/2" thick. Cut with biscuit cutter.

Bake on ungreased tray for 25-30 minutes until golden brown. Serve warm or cool on wire rack.
